*Colonial New England* Saturday March 20th, 2021

   ¡¡HOLA, ALL!!

IMPORTANT NOTE:  we are moving the Second tasting in Colonial’s Wine Tasting Trio to SATURDAY, MARCH 20 at 1:00 p.m. (Originally scheduled for Sunday, the 21st).

If you haven’t signed up for it, you are missing some fun, some education and some really nice wines at a good price!  If you’d like to sign up now, you can still join us.  Please let me know right away so that we can send you the link for the event when it’s time.

The wines for this second tasting will feature wines from the classic French white wine growing regions of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine (Pays Nantais, Loire Valley) and Alsace.  We will experience two very different ‘terroirs’ and wines from two less widely known varieties, Melon de Bourgogne and Pinot Blanc.  For those people who ordered a full case there is an option to include bottles of the foremost known white variety, Chardonnay, from another classic white wine region, the Macon (southern Burgundy).  We are tasting the following whites:

Gross Pinot Blanc 2018
Martin-Luneau Muscadet “2 Roches” 2015

I hope you are able to get either these or something quite similar.  These wines are pleasant aperitifs on their own or fine complements to seafood dishes ranging from raw bar shellfish to sushi to steamed lobster to elegant baked stuffed fish.  For  your food options, you might like to pick up some Sushi at your local Grocery store or order take-out or possible delivery from Legal Sea Foods or any other good seafood restaurant near you.

Our Wine Guide for this tasting will be Bob Madill.  He will guide us through the tasting using materials gathered during professional visits to these regions.  He is a Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers), Wine Director of Kindred Fare Restaurant, WSET 3 (distinction), teaches the Wine Judge Training program for the American Wine Society and has been a frequent presenter at the annual meetings of the AWS and the Society of Wine Educators.   Bob and his business partner Pascal Durand have hosted educational tours for wine industry professionals to European wine regions for the past 18 years.

Our third tasting will feature Rhônes: Bonnefond Cote Rotie 2017 and Joncuas Gigondas 2016 and will be on Sunday April 18 either late afternoon or early evening.  More about it later.

Please let me know by return email, if possible, if you intend to participate or if you have any questions.

“See” you soon,

Sandy

Vive La Chaîne!!
